OK, I tried this over at the MSN group, and had I think 1 other person post a pic.

Figure I'll give it a shot here too.

Here is my current configuration of the 2 boxes I have.

Here's my test machine (well, the PII anyway - the main test machine has gone down with either a dead mobo, or fried CPU (don't know which yet as I don't have the resources to test them))

I've reconfigured my office some. Moved my sons game table, which I have been using and which he has not used in over a year, to a more convenient spot for me to work on some of the boxes I have currently. And of course once my son saw it was moved he suddenly had an urge to play some pool with dad.

Needless to say, he was SOL. rofl

Image

There are 5 boxes there. Primary box w\monitor in front of chair, table top obscured by the chair, one on the floor between the main desk and game table and two on top of the gametable. All but the one on the floor are mine. That's the box I reinstalled the OS on and am currently having problems connecting to the Net. Seems it does not see my router or any of the configurations on it.

Tammy\Blender has been helping me out, but she has been working alot so I'm in limbo on it.

The more time you spend John, the easier it's gonna get.

And that you won't ever have to worry about any nasties, you're going to find you have more time for enjoying the Net as it should be enjoyed.

Figured I'd bump this for some of the newer folks. It's been almost 2 years since anyone posted to it. Maybe some may want to add a pic?

Mine hasn't changed too much.
Image
I've a 20" Acer Wide screen for primary Dell XP Home\Vista Ultimate sporting 1.25GIG, with 120GIG partitioned internal hdd and a 250 external hdd for backing up nightly.

To the right of that I have my old 18" flat screen Dell w\HP box I inherited, which is running 256RAM on a 80GIG partitioned drive.

On the table next to that is an older Dell 18" flat screen I had bought as 'refurbished' but it tanked a month or so after I got it. I'm in the process of trying to fix that. Just don't have enough time.

How many pics are thee supposed to be on the attachment? I get one (the Recon. shelf and then a bunch of nonphoto gobbly gook.

By the way Temerc, if you would refresh my memory on the EASIEST way to post a picture here, I would be tempted to add to this thread.

John there is only one image to view. But when you open it, it gets opened from you temp folders, which will also allow you to scroll thru other images which are on your PC.

And the easiest way to post a pic is use the attachment method like I did. Or link from another site.

To do that, follow these steps, when replying:
  • Once the text box appears to type in your reply, scroll down a bit and you'll see an 'Upload attachment' section
  • Looking to the left you'll see 'Filename, then a blank space, then a ['browse'] button. Click it to navigate to where ever the pic is on your system.
  • Once that is selected, just below that button, in another section is an '[Add file button], click that and the page will reload and there will be a section listing the attachment.
  • Once you've completed your reply, just hit the submit button
From another site, read here. It requires that you create an account for either ImageShack or Photobucket, but that's free.

Thank you sir! I should have known there would be an easier way to post a pic. My earlier contribution was via photobucket and that seemed to be a chore to accomplish. Now I know that it wasn't necessary to use that avenue. I am formulating a pic or two to add in the interest of also enticing more activity here. I find the variety of PC workstation layouts to be interesting.

I've always thought this thread would really take off, I even had one like it in the MSN group but I guess it's not as popular as you and I think it is.

Well apparently so, but perhaps with a little twist to the pic posting aspect of the thread, it could be revitialized. I have something in mind to try, just for fun. hm?

Actually, the best way, contrary to what I said earlier is to link off site as the pic displays in the text box, showing immediately, without having to click anything. Sort of an instant gratification so to speak.

Once the accounts have been set up, you'll likely find yourself using it more often. I use it almost exclusively at this point for pretty much every image on the board.
