Spyware Doctor false FP

Postby MalwareMutilator » Thu Nov 13, 2008 9:20 am

Hi all,

Be advised that today’s update of Spyware Doctor included a highly-likely FP. It indicates (on my system) 22 occurrences of Zlob. NOT! :D

Hi Tom,

It’s difficult to do because Spyware Doctor doesn’t actually produce a log. The best I can do is submit a partial screen-shot.

The screen shot is good enough. Very clearly displayed and very clearly f\p's.

Do they have a forum somewhere you can post to? Or have you perhaps sent them an email?

They do have a forum, but it is filled with people of such limited knowledge, I rarely post there anymore. In the past I have posted answers, but their "know-it-alls" basically laughed at me, and insisted that SD NEVER makes mistakes. :D

SD is an OK program for the most part, but if I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't have purchased it. rofl

Ahhh...now that you say that, I recall that one of the things that drove you here was a discussion about another f\p with them that they refused to admit and then fixed, wasn't it?

Well once the sub runs out, you can tell them you know better and you can use the money for something else.

Yep,

That was it! :D But still . . . in those days, I knew it all too! rofl

What a difference a few months, and a LOT of ass-breaking work, can accomplish. 1rokon

Just a quick note:

SD wiped out a critical DLL on my system (during the auto-boot scan) which could not be repaired. Even after accessing the “quarantine” folder, the “DriveLocker.dll” could not be recovered. InCD (be it good or bad) no longer functioned after the scan, and even System Restore could not repair it. Thank goodness for back-ups! :D
