NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Internet is by far the most popular source of information and the preferred choice for news ahead of television, newspapers and radio, according to a new poll in the United States.

But just a small fraction of U.S. adults considered social websites such as Facebook and MySpace as a good source of news and even fewer would opt for Twitter.

More than half of the people questioned in the Zogby Interactive survey said they would select the Internet if they had to choose only one source of news, followed by 21 percent for television and 10 percent for both newspapers and radio.

Only 10 percent described social websites as an important for news, and despite the media buzz about Twitter, only 4 percent would go to it for information.

Sorry for the dated reply, but I've come across several uses where an info commercial (sure looked like one to me) was used to sell a product. Much cheaper and your promo runs 24/7. Might free up the Boob tube for interesting reruns, Mindblower!

I see more and more TV space allocated to 'Paid Programming'. Guess that's why we spend more time watching the cable channels as opposed to the primary ones, CBS, NBC, ABC & Fox.

IMHO, the local stations are dying a slow death. I'm not alone in the d/l of tv shows via internet. A kind sole has taken the task of removing all that offencive advertisement, and if I wait a while, I can get an entire season in a nice package for me to watch on either my computer, or burn onto dvd and watch on my TV. That's the only purpose a TV is good for now. Watching your favourite DVD's . No extra $$$ on TV signal suppliers. Okay, maybe some sports for good measure, Mindblower! 1rokon
