The laptop takes around 10 minutes to load enough from startup to where I can bring an internet page up. Yes the computer is a few years old, XP home edition V2002, but it should take that long to load. Can anyone see anything?

I don't see much out of the ordinary. You may want to update to AVG 2011, you're still running AVG9.

For programs starting with Windows which don't need to be and may be hampering Windows start up, we like the site AnswersThatWork(make no purchases, the link is reference only):

Just go to the appropriate letter, and search for the process/exe, they will give good detailed info regarding it, we use it quite often. If you can't find it there, then use Google

Hey there. I 've tried several times to both update and unistall AVG and it won't let me. What does that mean?
This is ther error message.

Their uninstaller is a POS

That's another reason I don't recommend them to anyone anymore.

Look on their FAQ pages for a fix, if nothing there, try using the following third party uninstaller:

Be sure to reboot the system afterwards(do not reboot when first prompted by the default application installer, allow Revo to finish the uninstall)
