Hey all,

I am running Vista and my niece installed something called IMesh. I went in and uninstalled the thing but it still controlled my Browser which is Firefox. So I went and got the latest version of HiJack This and installed it. When I told it to do a simple scan it started and came up with a warning bow saying it was not allowed access to the HOSTS file for some reason. It then listed what to do about editing it and it made no sense at all. It then told me to right click on the icon if I was running VISTA, which I am, and tell it to run as ADMINISTRATOR. I didn't see a thing that even resembled that to click.

The scan went ahead and finished and I selected everything that had IMESH listed and told it to get rid of them. Upon scanning again I would get the same message described before and it would then complete the scan,but the same IMESH crap was still listed. I don't know what to do as now I have uninstalled HJT. It won't run properly and do what I am asking it to do.

Can you help me get it installed and working so I can scan and post a log so I can get rid of this IMESH garbage?

Welcome back, you can ignore the error from HijackThis, it's normal for the current version.

Lets collect additional information off the system to see if we can spot the issue.

Download RSIT from the link below and save it to your desktop.

Thank you so much for once again helping me. I think I was able to get some of the monster but not all. That's why I trust you all, the PROFESSIONALS, to get the job done......

Let me know what I should do next. By the way I didn't see any part of the program that would allow me to put checkmarks next to the offenders like the ones I have always used. Am I going to have to get another HJT program to do that or will this one take care of it all.

I only need to know if any of the scan engines detect malware, like 13\40, 7\40, not the details. Be sure to select the 'Upload a file' tab, NOT the 'Submit a URL' tab

Hey,

Upon upload the result was that it has been analyzed in the past. The detection ratio is 0/42. I had it rescan and all of the engines came up negative. I just had it do a scan again and everything came up clean with that file.
I run Avast and had it do a total scan right after I submitted the problem and it found a couple of problems and I had it get rid of them.
Let me know what I need to do next, if anything.

Thanks, I would rename it to be on the safe side:
Right-click the file, select 'Rename' and rename it to 'tmp454535.exe.old'

Apart from that file, I don't see anything out of the ordinary


Then go to Windows Add or Remove, check for 'iMesh', if listed uninstall it.

You may want to disable Avast before running steps below
Afterwards, download HijackThis! SetUp file from the link below and save it to your desktop:
