alot of files shows as "file missing" in hijackthis. maybe a malware messing with my files? avast and malwarebytes has detected nothing.

Hi and welcome back.

With the exception of the O2 section, BHOs, this is a fault in how HJT reads those other sections, thus resulting in the (file missing) after each result.

The files are in all likelihood actually there as long as the particular software which is related is still installed.

The BHO section is an correct read and usually indicates either a broken install or incomplete uninstall.

this program is uninstalled so i guess they can be safely deleted

Yes, they can be fixed as well as the other two listed below

Open HJT and run another scan. Once it's completed the scan, look over the following entries I have listed, place a check in the boxes next to them as displayed(some may not be present due to previous instructions): Image and press the Image button. When you are doing this, make sure you have no browser windows open, including this one. Reboot if I have specified below, and post a fresh HijackThis log.

when starting scanning with hijackthis it mentioned that it didnt have acess to the hosts file and that it should be running as admin. i could find no option to run hijackthis as admin when right clicking hijackthis.

Run the same fix in safe mode, you can ignore the HijackThis error
